Decks… La Sirena surprisingly has great decks for a 46 year old. For this year I have sealed them with Semco and have used clear caulk to fill noticeable gaps. The deck is solid. I intend to sand and seal fully next year, perhaps in warmer climates.
Engine is a Volvo Penta 2003 model, in very good condition. Currently doing standard service items on it. It took me a while to work out that is is coolant cooled with a seawater heat exhaust exchanger, very cool. Eventually identified the sea-strainer for the raw water, previous owner had put grease in it thinking it was a grease tube! No damage done.
The NX2 wind instrument has disintegrated, likely pecked away from gulls or eagles that frequent harbors and mast in the Pacific Northwest. Will be sourcing a replacement and doing a climb of the mast to replace.
Rudder is solid along with all straps and propeller shaft/cutlass bearing. Treated with primocon prior to antifouling.
The Dickinson Diesel heater works perfect, I spent some time dismantling it for cleaning of the burner pot … this is a definite winner for winter.
La Sirena has an extra 75 gallon fuel tank aboard, so with the standard 35 gallon, the capacity is 110 gallons.
The watermaker needs a new membrane, may actually replace with a new system instead of recommissioning it.
