Now that I’m getting La Sirena actually ready to go — and ready to live aboard — the jobs are starting to feel a little different.
I’ve repaired a leaking hot-water pipe feeding the galley sink and also fixed a small diesel leak in the fuel line feeding the engine. Both are exactly the sort of things I’d much rather discover here in the boatyard than once we’re underway.
The cockpit covers and dodgers that I removed and cleaned are going back on. Some of the clear window panels have definitely seen better days, so I’ll be sourcing replacement clear material and repairing those.
I’ve done another grocery run for the boat, and the refrigerator is finally starting to look like a refrigerator rather than another empty storage locker. I’m still waiting for the new thermostat, but it’s working and keeping things cold.
Perhaps the biggest change is simply that the cockpit is getting tidier. Tools are gradually disappearing into their proper storage places, materials are coming off the boat, and I’m beginning to work out where everything will actually live.
For months La Sirena has been a workshop.
Now she’s slowly becoming a boat and a home again.
And Bellingham is still giving us some beautiful weather, so I’m making the most of it while it lasts.
