Wood and varnish

Today I started working on some of La Sirena’s woodwork, rails and trim. I’m not aiming for perfection this year — just getting her looking presentable. I’m cleaning up the existing chipped finish and applying some Epifanes high-gloss varnish where needed, not everywhere, just working areas. Also gave the deck teak another coat of Semco teak sealer.

There’s still quite a bit of exposed wood along the toerail, but I’m not too worried about tackling all of that this year. I may do a few sections if time allows.

I’ve also ordered another batch of parts from eBay, with those and several other items already in transit arriving early next week. That should let me knock out a few more maintenance jobs.

I’m now getting seriously close to deciding whether to bring the relaunch date forward. I still don’t know exactly when that will be, but for the first time in a while, I can really see the horizon.

We’re getting close.
