{"id":12,"date":"2026-08-24T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sarmc.us\/?p=12"},"modified":"2026-09-04T17:12:35","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T17:12:35","slug":"teak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sarmc.us\/?p=12","title":{"rendered":"A Little More Teak, A Little More Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another productive day aboard La Sirena, and once again it\u2019s the little jobs that make the biggest difference.<\/p>\n<p>Today was mostly about protecting and finishing the woodwork and getting some of the areas that have taken years of weather and neglect looking shipshape again.<\/p>\n<p>The anchor locker and hatches got a fresh coat of paint, which is one of those jobs that isn\u2019t particularly glamorous but makes a huge difference. The locker takes plenty of abuse from wet ground tackle, saltwater and general cruising life, so getting it properly protected is important. It\u2019s also nice to open a locker and see something that looks clean and finished rather than something that looks like it\u2019s been sitting untouched for decades.<\/p>\n<p>I also put another coat of Semco on the teak deck. The teak is really starting to come back to life, and the additional protection should help keep it looking good while also giving it some protection from the Pacific Northwest weather. There\u2019s still plenty of teak to look after, but it\u2019s becoming one of those jobs where you can finally see the results of all the work that\u2019s gone into La Sirena.<\/p>\n<p>The cockpit got some attention too, with teak oil going onto both the cockpit seating and the cockpit flooring.
